What is the main point in John 19? ›

This chapter records the events on the day of the crucifixion of Jesus, until his burial.

The church historian Eusebius (Church History 2.7.1), writing in the early fourth century, claims that "tradition relates that" Pilate committed suicide after he was recalled to Rome due to the disgrace he was in. Eusebius dates this to 39.

John 20 is the twentieth chapter of the Gospel of John in the New Testament. It relates the story of Jesus' resurrection. It relates how Mary Magdalene went to the tomb of Jesus and found it empty. Jesus appears to her and speaks of his resurrection and dispatches Mary to tell the news to the disciples.

The word, "righteousness," in this verse characterizes the person who does what is right and good on behalf of others and honors God. The righteous person has nothing to fear about death, because he has eternal life and an eternal reward (Philippians 3:8–9).

Simply put, praying God's Word means speaking His language. It means talking to Him using His words. Don't waste time looking for a “formula” or “right” way to pray God's Word back to Him. This process comes from what is in your heart and on your mind.

The Gospel of John presents Christ as the longed for Messiah and Son of God, who comes to earth as a Jew to restore God's covenant people. Yet the very people who ought to have embraced their Messiah rejected him: “He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him” (John 1:11).

John 19:1-16 is our text for the morning, and the title of the message is “Jesus is the Abused Son of God.” Reading through John 19:1-16 doesn't seem right. In a sense, there's a lot wrong in John 19:1-16. Cries of the Jews to crucify Jesus. A Roman governor that finds no fault with him but still condemns him to death.
