Taylor Swift's Teeth: Are They Real? | Longevita (2024)

The name Taylor Swift hardly needs any introduction. From her captivating vocals and poignant songwriting to the palpable ‘Swift Effect,’ which revitalises economies in her wake, the singer stands as a timeless cultural icon. While the Taylor Swift phenomenon could have books written about it, this isn’t the place for it. That’s because, here, we’re simply interested in Taylor Swift’s teeth.

Analysing her photos, it definitely does look like she’s got something done to them. However, it’s not only the shape of her teeth that people have talked about, but it’s also things like how they look so white and less gummy than they used to be. So, let’s find out!

Who Is Taylor Swift?

Born on December 13, 1989 (there’s an album on it), Taylor Alison Swift, who is 34 years old at the time of writing, is a singer and songwriter known for both her country and pop music. Wanting to become a singer from a young age, Taylor signed her first deal with RCA Records when she was just 14. However, because she couldn’t release an album till she was 18 with that record label, she eventually left it.

Just a year later, she signed with Big Machine Records, which then led to the release of her first album titled Taylor Swift when she was 16. Through very clever marketing and, of course, the songs themselves, the album turned out to be a success, even earning her a nomination with the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2008.

The year 2008 also saw the release of Swift’s second album Fearless, which included major hits like Love Story and You Belong With Me – the latter winning her an MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video (alongside a side of beef with Kanye).

She has since released several other very hugely successful albums, including 1989, Reputation, Speak Now, Folklore, Midnights and Lover and is currently on her Eras Tour, which, according to the Guinness World Records, is the top-grossing music tour in history (it has grossed more than $1 billion!).

Does Taylor Swift Have False Teeth?

While Taylor hasn’t said anything about it, from her photos, it does seem possible that she may have dental crowns or veneers fitted. They are two different types of cosmetic restorations; the former surrounds the tooth on all sides, while the latter only covers the front surface of the natural teeth.

A widely reported incident in 2013 involved Taylor accidentally “uppercut” punching herself in the tooth with a microphone resulting in a chipping. “And then part of it fell onto the stage and I was like, ‘Oh, I wonder how bad that was. I wonder which tooth that is and I wonder how bad that is,’ and I was just trying not to chip another one,” is what Taylor said, as per The Things.

Taylor is also reported to have added, “I had a tip on [the tooth] and it doesn’t anymore. I’m not doing anything about it. It’s just gonna be a little bit jagged, I guess”. And while that was the case for 10 years (according to a fan post on Instagram), the news of the pop star getting her tooth fixed came out in 2023 as it had gotten its tip back.

Since you can’t grow back missing or broken teeth, cosmetic dentistry can help in restoration. There are different treatments, such as composite bonding, dental veneers and crowns that can help. Composite bonding helps in milder cases when the chip or crack is small. In Taylor’s case, it almost looks like she either had veneers or crowns.

That’s because not only has the chipped tooth gotten its tip back, but it also seems less “wide” along with the surrounding lateral incisors (which used to be peg-shaped when she was younger, but are now rounder). It can happen as a result of the shaving of the underlying tooth, which can then make way for a narrower restoration on top.

Her front teeth also looked to be on the wider side before, but it doesn’t seem so anymore, so it’s possible that she got a complete smile makeover.

How Are Taylor Swift’s Teeth So White?

There could be two explanations for Taylor Swift’s exceptionally white teeth: teeth whitening or veneers/crowns. In teeth whitening, a bleaching agent is applied to the teeth to get rid of discolouration (like yellowness). It’s not permanent and can last from just a few months to 3 years, but the results can be quite effective.

With most veneers and crowns, on the other hand, the colour of your artificial tooth won’t change. Patients choose the colour of their, with the help of the dentist, through a tooth shade guide. Your restoration will be that colour and stay that way because of the material from which it is made. So, if you already choose a white veneer/crown, you probably won’t need teeth whitening. If you don’t like the colour of your restoration, you can get them replaced by whiter ones.

What Other Dental Treatments Has Taylor Swift Had?

Other than crowns/veneers and teeth whitening, it’s also speculated that Taylor has had the following dental treatments:

Gum Contouring

Also known as gum reshaping or tissue sculpting, gum contouring is a procedure in which excess gum tissue around the teeth is cut out for a less gummy smile. Taylor’s smile also used to be a bit gummy when she was younger. However, it may be that it looks less so now because of the (alleged) crowns/veneers instead of contouring.

Braces

As per the Daily Mail, Taylor posted a YouTube video on her channel in 2008 about “getting fitted for new retainer molds”. Now, since Taylor hasn’t publicly been seen wearing any braces, it’s possible that she had been using a clear removable retainer to make her teeth straighter and more even.

Conclusion

From the looks of it, Taylor Swift’s teeth look quite different from how they used to be. A few of her upper teeth used to be a bit protruded early on in her career. One of her canines chipped in 2013, and her lateral incisors also had different lengths over the years.

Now, however, it’s as picture-perfect as it gets, with even gradation and no sign of any fractures whatsoever. Therefore, it may be that Taylor had some cosmetic dental treatments to fix any problems she had with her smile.

If you’re also thinking about getting your teeth done, make sure to discuss your goals and needs with a board-certified medical professional for an effective treatment plan.
