I had a theory that the quality of your teeth whitening trays makes a huge difference in how white you can get your teeth. After using the Smile Brilliant Trays, I can confirm that is true!
I was trying to whiten my teeth using the sports mouth guard trays that you can get for a buck at the drugstore.
It wasn’t going well.
I couldn’t fit more than one (upper or lower) in my mouth, so I’d have to have an hour free to whiten my teeth. It was too bulky and I never felt like the whitening gel really got into the grooves of my teeth, so the front of my teeth would get white and the grooves would look more yellow by contrast.
I was using a sample of a super fancy whitening gel from the dentist and was sick of feeling like I was wasting it. I decided it was time to look into custom whitening trays, so I could actually get the gel properly near my teeth.
Where did I turn to? The Onlines, The Internet. I knew my internet would steer me right and it did not let me down. My searching brought me to Smile Brilliant.
They carry whitening and desensitizing gels, but most importantly, they make CUSTOM TEETH TRAYS.
I got my starter kit which has: three whitening gels, three desensitizing gels, and the custom tray impression material. It sells for $119.
I had looked into a similar option at the dentist that was closer to $500 for custom trays.
You can buy kits that come with more of the gels. You currently can’t buy the trays on their own.
It comes with everything you need to make the trays and whiten and full instructions for each step. You mix up the impression material, spread it evenly on the tray, then press it UP evenly into your teeth. Then you pull it straight down. This up/down motion makes sure the trays will fit tightly.
f you wedge it back and forth in your mouth while it’s setting, the trays will actually come out looser and not fit as well.
I let my trays dry overnight and then sent them off the next morning to Smile Brilliant.
I got my custom trays back about a week later. The trays are clear, thin, and flexible.
This is great for a number of reasons. 1: They both fit easily in my mouth at the same time so my whitening time is cut in half. 2: The trays being flexible (which was a surprise to me) makes them super easy to clean.
You can really get all the little grooves clean. I just wet a q-tip and use that to get any extra gel out of the grooves. They come in a little black case for storage.

The trays make the whitening a hundred times more effective. I’m so glad I have them.
My teeth were getting so gross, I drink coffee daily and red wine more than I should. I was at the point where I would never smile with my mouth open, especially not for photos. Not a great way to feel about yourself. These trays make a huge difference.
To be honest, I prefer Opalescence whitening gels. The Smile Brilliant whitening gel just didn’t work as well for me. But the trays are unbeatable.
I really want this review to focus on the trays, though, because I feel like most whitening tutorials focus on the gels, but if the gels aren’t getting anywhere near your teeth, it doesn’t matter how great they are.

I’m so excited to have found Smile Brilliant. I did a ton of research and found them to be the only online place for truly custom trays that are on the same level as the type you would get from your dentist.
Everything else was the kind that you boil then mold to your teeth. I feel way better about my teeth and don’t feel self conscious about smiling and showing my teeth in pics anymore.
