NFL Spreadsheet Survivor Pool… with a dash of Salt

Well it’s about that time folks, Fantasy Football is just around the corner and considering that monitoring the status of Chris Johnson’s contract and Peyton’s neck will most certainly take some extra attention in the coming weeks, our little noggins could probably use a mindless NFL hedge to quench our gambling urge without requiring a huge degree of knowledge or time.
Thus, the FREE Excel Rain Man Football Survivor Pool is back for Season 3 and is ready to assist pool managers out there with a simple spreadsheet solution. Allyssa Tzavlakis brought her spreadsheet A Game once again in creating this absurdly awesome template.

This is an Excel Rain Tool for managing your own survivor-style football pool. As an FYI, Survivor Pool spreadsheets are not really available on the market (at least not one this good), so use our simple spreadsheet to get your gamble on!
Bracket managers can look as though they are working on a bad-a$$ spreadsheet at work (yeah right), while discreetly feeding their ravenous hunger for office wagering… So genius right?
Here’s the deal.

Rules:

– Each week pool participants will choose one football team to win, straight up (i.e. no spreads)

– Once a participant has chosen a team, they will be unable to choose that team for the remainder of the season

– If your team wins, you move on to the next week

– The league manager can choose single or double elimination style and how to handle ties in NFL games

Logistics:

– A Pool Manager is needed to coordinate this “spread-tasterpiece” and will enter selections each week for the participants

– Each Pool Participant will email his or her weekly selection to the pool manager (prior to the first game of the week)

That’s it my friends. Your welcome!

Small Biz Spotlight

One of my go-to shows, other than True Blood of course, is MSNBC’s “Your Business” hosted by JJ Ramberg. “Your Business” is the only TV show dedicated to issues affecting small business owners. It airs on Sunday morning from 7:30am to 8am and the show is replayed the following Saturday from 5:30am – 6am. Just set your DVR if you need some quality snooze time.

The program profiles small business owners and also offers advice from business experts and investors. One of their recent segments featured, “The Meadow” (www.atthemeadow.com), a high-end food and gift business based on one of my favorite combined elements from the (periodic) table or pantry… SALT.

I have always had an affinity for (more like an obsession with) salt, which started in my childhood with French Fries. Over time, however, my love affair with salt has evolved and I have come to realize the powers that this ingredient possesses when it comes to enhancing the flavors of food.

These days, it seems as though chefs and culinary geniuses around NYC have been reading my diary, as restaurants have started offering all types of dishes using different tasting artisanal salts. In my opinion, the best part of this trend has to be the introduction of salts to my favorite course of all… desert! As I’m sure all of you foodies have noticed, brownies, ice cream, molton cakes, chocolate chip cookies and best of all, caramels are just a bit better with a little salt sprinkled on top.

Well, Jennifer Turner Bitterman and Mark Bitterman were apparently way ahead of this salt curve in opening The Meadow’s flagship store in Portland, OR in the spring of 2006. As Bobby Fisher was to Chess, The Meadow is to artisanal salts from around the world, along with amazing chocolate bars, bitters and other gourmet items for the bar and kitchen. And after much success on the west coast, The Meadow has brought their 100+ finishing salts to the streets of NYC in opening a second location in the West Village… just a few blocks from my apartment!!

The friendly and knowledgeable staff will help you find just the right salt for whatever you are cooking, AND they can tell you all about the origin of the lovely flavorings, so you can totally impress dinner guests.

Now that I have worked myself up into a salt craving frenzy, it’s time to get my Fleur de Sel on!

If you are unable to visit the retail locations in NYC or Portland, OR, there is no need to feel salty, as The Meadow offers their treats online as well!

Have a great long weekend! When you are back at work and missing summer… just have Excel Rain Man do your work for you or hook you up with a class (if you are feeling ambitious).

Just Submit a Request and we will spruce up your spreadsheets!
