About Us

DB Dental, Joondalup, is a family friendly dentist offering general and cosmetic treatments and services, including Invisalign. We are conveniently located at the Lakeside City Shopping Centre, offering seven state-of-the-art surgeries including the latest in dental equipment, technology and materials.

We want our patients of all ages to have a positive and happy experience. Our goal is to provide a relaxed and professional environment for all our patients, no matter the age - that is why we have a very special Dinosaur chair available for our younger patients.

With decades of experience behind them, our highly experienced team of dentists at DB Dental, Joondalup, have all adopted a philosophy built around providing gentle, caring, precise dental treatments and oral surgery for all of our patients' oral requirements. Our practice has a relaxed, friendly environment and our commitment to you and your oral health is obvious from the moment you arrive.

Poised under pressure, Dr Adam Russell’s ability to be a dentist with a deft hand is unrivaled. He completed his education with a degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2013. Since then, he’s been working hard to ensure that his practice doesn’t let a modicum of effort go to waste.

Dr Russell’s skills extend to all dentistry facets, but he has special interests in cosmetic dentistry and emergency dentistry, where his heightened abilities come into play. He has a good track record as a dentist in Joondalup, with patients vouching for him.

When not in practice, Adam likes to focus on ways to improve his skills and further his dentistry strengths.

After finishing my Bachelor in Dental Sciences at the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Cairo University in Egypt in 2001, I went on to earn my Master’s Degree of Prosthodontics.

In addition to my qualifications, I received extensive training in dental implants during a three-year residency program at Cairo University. I have ten years’ experience working in dentistry training, firstly as a clinical instructor and then an assistant lecturer, mentoring and educating undergraduates and postgraduates. Alongside this I also ran my own private practice, delivering both general and implant dentistry.

I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of general dentistry, implants, advanced surgical and prosthetic parts. I draw on my combined expertise to help my patients achieve better oral health.

My family and I have lived in Western Australia for over 10 years, I am a loving husband and caring father to two children. During my out of office hours, I spend quality time with my family and friends.

Dr Hemesh Shelat graduated from the University of Manchester in 2017 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and has also completed the exams to become a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He finds the profession rewarding and exciting and loves being able to help different people everyday while creating strong relationships which ensures their experience feels as relaxed and calm as possible.

Dr Shelat has been told that he’s gentle with his approach which means he can really help nervous patients and engage with them to ensure they both work together to achieve a high-quality result.

Dr Shelat’s special interests include keeping fit through gym and sports such as soccer and cricket. He also enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends. Dr Shelat likes all aspects of dentistry and will continue to keep up to date with the latest techniques and advances in dentistry as his ultimate aim is to provide each and every patient with the best quality of care possible.

Dr Joshua Robertsongraduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Glasgow in 2019 and, after 3 years of working in general practice in Scotland, recently relocated to WA.

Dr Robertson hasa broad experience in all aspects of general dentistry - from preventative and children’s dentistry to fillings, crowns, bridges, extractions and teeth whitening. He enjoys helping patients and providing these treatments in a relaxed, comfortable environment.

In his free time, you’ll usually find him keeping active, attempting to play golf or exploring WA.

I’ve been involved in field of Dentistry more than 20 years. My dental career started as a part time dental nurse when I was a high school student. I continued further study in Dental Hygiene at the Tsurumi Junior College in Japan. After graduation, I worked as a dental hygienist in private practice in Japan. During the time, I had an opportunity to attend dental academic meeting in the US. This broadened my sight worldwide.

I came to Australia to study English, and was fascinated by beautiful nature and people in Australia. I decided to continue my dental career in Australia. I completed my dental study at the University of Queensland in 2008. Since then, I enjoyed working with wonderful colleagues and seeing my lovely patients every day. I am passionate about all aspects of dentistry, and enjoy helping people to overcome their fear at dental surgery. I also enjoy helping small children, elderly patients and patients with special needs, achieving this with gentle and friendly manner.

I regularly attend variety of dental courses to keep updating my knowledge in recent dental technologies, such as 3D dental impression scanner (3 Shape Communicate/ TRIOS). I’m furthering my knowledge in dental aesthetics. It is very rewarding for me to make my patients happy by beautiful smile. I provide variety of aesthetic works such as tooth whitening, veneers, crown and bridges. It is not only aesthetics as well as it must be functional and easy for them to look after. I also provide clear aligner orthodontics (invisalign) to improve their smile and function.

Outside the practice, I spend precious time with my family and friends. I also enjoy gardening and harvesting home grown fruits and vegetables. In spare time, I stretch my muscles by walking, yoga and pilates for better performance at my surgery.

Marija has been involved in the dental industry for many years. She initially studied dental assisting before continuing her studies to become an Oral Health Therapist. After graduation Marija worked in the school dental services treating children and now she has embarked on working in private practice which she thoroughly enjoys.

Marija is passionate about all facets of dentistry, but what particularly interests her is the management and prevention of periodontal disease and dental decay. She has also trained in non-invasive teeth whitening treatments. Additionally she has a passion for patient education and wants to empower patients to have happy and healthy smile whilst making their dental experience enjoyable. She also regularly attends dental courses to keep up to date with dental technologies.

Outside of work Marija enjoys spending time with her amazing family, keeping fit and travelling overseas.

Dr Naomi Martin graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Dental Science with honours from the University of Western Australia. After working for several years in Western Australia, both in metropolitan and rural clinics, and spending four years practicing in Canberra, she has acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience.

She is both friendly and thorough in her approach to treatment. She enjoys taking her time with each patient to listen to their needs, explain the relevant treatment options and provide high quality treatment. Naomi enjoys all aspects of dentistry with a particular interest in preventative, paediatrics, and crown and bridgework. She frequently attends professional development courses and lectures to keep up to date with the latest advances in dentistry.

Outside of dentistry, she enjoys morning walks with a coffee, delicious food and spending time with her family and friends.

Dr Ryan Butler completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Manchester in 2008. He later ventured forth to obtain a Master of Dental Science from King’s College London (2016).

Prior to assuming the role of lead practitioner at National Dental Care, Ryan thoroughly serviced various high profile dental establishments all across Australia. A few of his clinical interests include orthodontics, implants, cosmetics, root canal and wisdom teeth removal.

Dr Butler specialises in the provision of an individualised dental treatment tailored to perfection through discussion and deliberation with the client himself.
Moreover, he is an ambitious Joondalup dentist who is on a mission to help patients achieve aesthetically pleasing smiles through a painless and anxiety free procedure.

Dr Sarah Chia graduated from The University of Western Australia in 2004, and has worked in private practice in Perth since. She joined the DB Dental company in 2005, and has remained there as one of their longest employees.

Dr Chia has a particular passion for Cosmetic and Restorative dentistry, with extensive experience in crowns, veneers, bridges, tooth whitening, and restoring implants. She is now also providing services using the Invisalign programme, which has been widely recognised in improving people’s smiles and function, and also has had a long term interest in Oral Surgery. She participates in ongoing professional education to keep herself updated, and is excited to see DB Dental providing its practitioners with the latest software and equipment to be able to treat their patients with the utmost care and technology.

Dr Chia is a gentle and friendly dentist, who endeavours to make anxious patients feel comfortable and reassured, and who takes the time to seek out their best treatment options. She loves the rewarding side of dentistry that allows patients to improve their aesthetics and overcome their fears.

Originally born in Sydney, Sarah has spent most of her life in Perth, and dedicates a lot of her spare time to taking care of her family and friends here. Her other passions include music, travelling and keeping fit and active.
