Destiny 2 is no stranger to secret missions. Fans of the series have been discovering them since the beginning, whether completely by accident or knowingly working their way into them. With the release of Destiny 2 Lightfall, players are being treated to a brand new mission for the latest weekly reset. Here is everything players need to know about how to unlock and complete the Node.Ovrd.Avalon Vexcalibur secret mission in Destiny 2 Lightfall.

How to Unlock the Vexcalibur Exotic Secret Mission in Destiny 2 Lightfall
First things first, players will need to head out to the EDZ and make their way into the Gulch. Luckily, there is a landing zone that makes getting there quick and easy. From there, players will probably notice there are some strange-looking Vex cubes scattered all throughout the area. These cubes are a key component of accessing the Vexcalibur Exotic Secret Mission.
Before getting started, players will want to know what their objective is: you are to obtain a password by finding all of the Vex cubes. This sounds easy, however, when the player picks up any of the Vex cubes (there are six in total) it will trigger a countdown timer. If they do not collect all 6 Vex cubes in the time allotted, they will need to start over.
This means players will need to be fast. Using mods to reach high Mobility stat, or using Lightweight weapons to boost sprint speed is recommended. Here is where players can find all six Vex cubes in the Gulch.
The first cube is located behind some logs up on a hill.
Directly across the valley is another cube, located behind some equipment — be wary, there are cabal nearby.
Jump down and head under the bridge to find the third cube.
Turn around from the bridge and run past the big hills on the left, continue until you see an open field. Here you will find the fourth Vex cube.
Turn to the left about 45 degrees and run towards the woods. You will see the fifth Vex cube floating in the air.
The last Vex cube is to the right of the fifth. You may need to use the Strand grapple ability to reach it if you have low Mobility stat.
If done correctly, there will now be a swirling Vex design in the sky.
Follow the Vex swirly cloud until reaching this cave. Enter and continue downward.
At the bottom of the cave, players will find a friendly Vex Harpy. Speak with it to get the quest to obtain Vexcalibur: NODE.OVRD.AVALON. After unlocking this quest, it’s time to head inside of the brand new secret instance.
Finding the way in
Once inside the new quest, players will have a fairly linear path to follow, slaying some Vex along the way. Once they come to an area that seems like an endless loop however, that’s when they need to check the walls. Locate a small crack in the wall and follow it down. This will lead to the first locked section where players will need to enter a code.
This first section where players need to open a lock will seem very confusing at first. However, once players know what to look for, knowing the code becomes a bit more simple (not really). The pattern to enter is a series of shapes, and players will need to locate a pillar of shapes and enter them from top to bottom, by shooting the corresponding shapes on the center pillar in order.
With this done a few times, players will be able to move on to the next section.
Entering The Deletion Protocol
After breaking through with the code, players will have another lengthy section where they need to do the same thing again. This time however, there are a LOT more enemies to deal with. Simply take them out, enter the code, and repeat. Try not to enter the codes too quickly, or the enemies will quickly overwhelm the fireteam.
With this part finished, there is a very linear platforming section that will take players to the Deletion Protocol area of the map. This is recognizable by a large Hydra boss and tons of mobs that spawn.
How this section works is that players must defeat the enemies and pick up the motes they drop and deposit them into the center column. Each wave has a set amount of motes appear on screen and when players hit that number, the center hole will open. Players will need to go down into the hole to avoid being deleted.
Repeat this process twice to start a damage phase with the boss. After the damage phase, it’s back to more motes for two more phases and then a final damage phase. With this out of the way, it’s time to go further into the core.
Entering the Core
After another platforming section which is very linear, players will arrive at the core. After getting there, they will be met by Brakion, a very angry robot that wants to kill them. However, much like before, players will need to use the codes to get through this section. For the first part, simply check around the arena and find the shapes needed to input the code. Once the first phase is done, step through the portal.
The second phase is a bit harder, as it will seem like there are no shapes anywhere. However, if players look down at these tiny windows in the floor, they can locate shapes inside specific ones. These shapes will be the passcode players need. Input the code and damage the boss to step through the portal again to the final phase.
With the last phase, the boss will rush the player relentlessly. They will need to avoid the boss and take out any adds to have any hope of survival. Once there is enough damage done to the boss, he will disappear, and players will be able to complete it to unlock the Exotic Glaive Vexcalibur.
