Is Pasta Sauce Gluten Free?

Most tomato based pasta sauce is gluten free. But I always look at the label to make sure.

You can also use homemade pasta sauce. Sometimes if I am feeling really fancy, I will make this homemade pasta sauce. But most of the time, I will just use the jar sauce.

Can this soup be frozen?

Yes! The best option is to cook all the ingredients together except for the noodles.

When you are ready to serve the soup, thaw the soup, bring soup to a simmer and then add your noodles. This prevents the noodles from becoming mushy.

This soup tastes amazing as leftovers. My husband and I put our leftovers in a small dish and reheat the next day! It is great to know that he is getting a warm, healthy lunch on a cold day!

This recipe is so flavorful! Sometimes I will add half ground beef and half Italian sausage. This gives the soup a different flavor that we all love.

Adding in the onion and garlic and the tomatoes, I just love how yummy this recipe is!

You can also make this dairy free my eliminating the cheeses or using a diary free cheese substitute.

There are so many variations that you can add to this soup. It is also great to sneak in some other veggies. I like adding in some kale and spinach for some added nutrition.

I love that I can “sneak in” these added vegetables and the kids will never know!

Ingredients:

  • Ground beef or Ground Turkey
  • Onion, diced
  • Red bell pepper, diced
  • Petite diced tomatoes
  • Crushed tomatoes or Marinara Sauce
  • Minced Garlic
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Beef broth or chicken broth
  • Gluten Free Rotini pasta
  • Ricotta Cheese
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Parmesan Cheese

How to make gluten free lasagna soup recipe:

  • First turn on the Instant pot to the browning setting and brown the ground beef. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Next add in diced onion and red bell pepper. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and the diced tomatoes.
  • Add in seasonings.
  • Third, pour in the beef broth.

  • Then cover and set the sealing to 5 minutes. Do a quick release to release the pressure from the instant pot after the cook time.
  • Remove the lid. Stir in the gluten free pasta.
  • Seal the instant pot and cook on high pressure for 2 minutes with a quick release.

  • Spoon into bowls. Top with a tablespoon of ricotta cheese, and a handful of mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

How to make on the Stove Top:

This would also be very easy to make on the stove top.

First, brown the ground beef in a stock pot with a little bit of olive oil, and drain any excess fat. Then stir in the rest of the ingredients, except the pasta, and the cheeses.

Bring to a boil, stir in the pasta. Cover and simmer until the pasta is soft and the flavors combine. Then top with your favorite cheeses and serve.

How to make it in the slow cooker:

You can also make this in the crock pot. Simply use this crock pot lasagna soup recipe, but make sure to use a gluten free pasta instead.

  • Cover and seal the instant pot. Cook on high pressure for 5 minutes. Do a quick release to release all the pressure after this cook time by moving the vent on the lid from the seal position to the venting position.

  • Remove the lid. Stir in the gluten free pasta.

  • Seal the instant pot again and cook on high pressure for 2 minutes with a quick release. Make sure to release the pressure immediately after the cook time so that the noodles do not get overcooked.

  • Spoon into bowls. Top with a tablespoon of ricotta cheese, and a handful of mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

  • Enjoy!
