Here’s how our family eats healthy, real food…even when we’re trying to save money:

  • Plan Ahead — Meal planning and a detailed grocery list ensures that you already know what you’re going to prepare for the week so you’re less likely to make impulse purchases at the grocery store.
  • Prep, Prep, Prep — Prepping your ingredients or making recipes that have lots of leftovers will help you to have food ready to go, even when you’re short on time.
  • Buy Less Processed Food — Ready made meals and packaged foods usually cost more. Plus they often contain more additives, like sodium. Cooking your own real food will save you money and mean that you know exactly what’s in your dinner.
  • Buy In Bulk — Since many low carb recipes utilize a lot of meat, it helps to stock up when you see a low price and freeze the extra for another time.
